BROOKSVILLE - Two men nabbed in a stolen car Saturday paid their bond the following day and went on a torrid crime
spree across several neighborhoods, deputies said.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle for a broken tail light, according to
an arrest report.

Justin Michael Nugent, 23, was charged with grand theft auto and Anthony Michael Moss, 20, who was in the passenger
seat, was charged with marijuana possession.

By Sunday night, they were released on bail and walked more than two miles to the Pristine Place neighborhood, where
they broke into several unlocked vehicles, deputies said.

"(Their) methods in picking targets were simple," said Sgt. Donna Black, a sheriff's spokeswoman. "They committed
these burglaries by just walking around the neighborhood, driveway to driveway, checking for unlocked cars."

Later that night, they got a ride to High Point off State Road 50, jumped a fence and burglarized several vacant and
occupied homes, according to a media release.

Moss later told detectives they entered the occupied homes because it was more likely they would find wallets and
purses containing money, the report showed.

Moss and Nugent, both of Brooksville, targeted adult communities, deputies said.

Moss said he entered the houses through unlocked lanai screen doors or by cutting the lanai screens and entering
occupied homes through the front or back doors that were left unlocked, according the sheriff's office.

Black said the two stole a Ford Focus after Moss found the key inside the vehicle.

They used the car to drive to other neighborhoods to continue their burglaries, she said.

Moss would burglarize the homes while Nugent would drive around and wait for his call, according to the sheriff's office.
He would pick him up and they would ride to another area.

From Sunday night through Monday morning, Nugent and Moss burglarized multiple cars and homes throughout
Pristine Place, High Point and Woodland Waters. The latter is located off U.S. 19 near Weeki Wachee.

Eventually, they headed south to Pasco County where they burglarized more homes and vehicles, deputies said.

On Monday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office located the suspects in an apartment complex and arrested them
on a charge of stealing the Ford Focus, according to the arrest report.

After Moss and Nugent were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail, two Hernando detectives interrogated them.
Moss agreed to go with the detectives and show them all the homes and cars he could remember burglarizing, deputies
said.

Thus far, authorities have determined Moss and Nugent started their crime spree shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday and
continued until about 6 p.m. Monday.

The suspects told detectives they had targeted at least 100 homes and vehicles in Hernando and Pasco counties,
deputies said.

As of Thursday, 30 burglary cases linked to the two suspects had been closed, but others likely have gone unreported,
according to the sheriff's office.

Out of the 30 burglaries, 14 of them took place at homes where the victims were asleep, Black said.

Detectives think Moss has been targeting Hernando County and the surrounding areas for the past two months,
according to the report.

Nugent is not related to Hernando County Sheriff Richard Nugent.
